Stevie could flat-ass PLAY THE GUITAR!!! What a tragic loss his early death was for all of us. Thank the gods for YouTube videos of his many live performances. Here’s are 3 videos: 1) A gig he played in Italy not long before his death in a helicopter crash at the age of only 35. 2) a great one-on-one interview with Stevie about overcoming his 25 year addiction to drugs and alcohol. 3) Finally, from the Tribute Concert in honor of Stevie’s career after his death and with many of the finest guitarists in the world, as well as vintage performances by Stevie and his band Double Trouble.  This is a CLASSIC concert. OXYMORON:  Definition — 1657, from Gk. oxymoron, noun use of neut. ofoxymoros (adj.) “pointedly foolish,” from oxys”sharp” (see acrid) + moros “stupid.” Rhetoricalfigure by which contradictory terms are conjoined soas to give point to the statement or expression; theword itself is an illustration of the thing. Now often used loosely to mean”contradiction in terms.”, e.g. “Government Ethics”.  There is an actual government office called ” The US Office of Government Ethics”.  Really!? You couldn’t make this shit up if you stayed up all night…..

Tom Martin is a young English artist who  makes use of acrylic paint to create the most amazing paintings. Looking at them you could swear they are simple photographs, but in reality they are painstakingly painted by hand.  Hyperrealism evolved from the “photorealism” movement of the 1970s, and it’s dedicated to making artworks that are “more real than real”. Hyperrealists try not just copy a photograph with paint, but emphasize elements that were not evoked by the original. 23-year-old Tom Martin is already one of the most respected hyperrealist artist in the world, with works featured in art exhibitions all around the world.  Just have a look at his amazing super-sized paintings and tell me if you’d have known they aren’t simple photos or computer generated images.
