BETTER THAN HOLLYWOOD

Republished by Blog Post Promoter

This short video is about the tragic lack of originality that makes Hollywood films into a cliché for “creative crap”. Innovations in technical effects notwithstanding, the majority of Hollywood films have degenerated into crass, formulaic regurgitation of material dug out of dumpster: films based on TV shows, theme parks and toys. More often films are remakes, with technical upgrades, of older films. The moral of the story? If you want to be inspired or uplifted by original stories, don’t waster your money on films. Instead, read the books of Lawrence R. Spencer: transcend the drab, mundane, trite and trivial. Go to http://stores.lulu.com/pan

POWER OVER MIND

power over mindMarcus Aurelius  (26 April 121 – 17 March 180 AD) was Roman Emperor from 161 to 180. He ruled with Lucius Verus as co-emperor from 161 until Verus’ death in 169. He was the last of the Five Good Emperors, and is also considered one of the most important Stoic philosophers. Marcus Aurelius’ Stoic tome Meditations, written in Greek while on campaign between 170 and 180, is still revered as a literary monument to a philosophy of service and duty, describing how to find and preserve equanimity in the midst of conflict by following nature as a source of guidance and inspiration.

Shadows and Light  — lyrics by Joni Mitchell

Every picture has its shadows
And it has some source of light
Blindness blindness and sight
The perils of benefactors
The blessings of parasites
Blindness blindness and sight
Threatened by all things
Devil of cruelty
Drawn to all things
Devil of delight
Mythical devil of the ever-present laws
Governing blindness blindness and sight

Suntans in reservation dining rooms
Pale miners in their lantern rays
Night night and day
Hostage smile on presidents
Freedom scribbled in the subway
It’s like night night and day
Threatened by all things
God of cruelty
Drawn to all things
God of delight
Mythical god of the everlasting laws
Governing day day and night

Critics of all expression
Judges in black and white
Saying it’s wrong saying it’s right
Compelled by prescribed standards
Or some ideals we fight
For wrong wrong and right
Threatened by all things
Man of cruelty-mark of Cain
Drawn to all things
Man of delight-born again born again
Man of the laws the ever-broken laws
Governing wrong wrong and right
Governing wrong wrong and right
Wrong and right
