OXYMORON:  Definition — 1657, from Gk. oxymoron, noun use of neut. ofoxymoros (adj.) “pointedly foolish,” from oxys”sharp” (see acrid) + moros “stupid.” Rhetoricalfigure by which contradictory terms are conjoined soas to give point to the statement or expression; theword itself is an illustration of the thing. Now often used loosely to mean”contradiction in terms.”, e.g. “Government Ethics”.  There is an actual government office called ” The US Office of Government Ethics”.  Really!? You couldn’t make this shit up if you stayed up all night…..
